Los Roques National Park

An elliptic archipelago enclosing a lagoon of turquoise water, 35 minutes from the capital.

A thirty-five minute flight from Caracas leads to an elliptic archipelago enclosing a lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches, mangroves and magnificent coral reefs teeming with marine life. That is the whole of Los Roques National Park, and it is protected accordingly.

Why it works for your clients

When regular flights began, fishermen’s houses became “posadas”. To protect the park each has a maximum of fifteen rooms and a single floor; there are no cars in the village, only a few sandy roads. The result is a beach destination with no resort in it — right for couples and families who want privacy, and for fly-fishing and kitesurfing specialists who come for the flats and the wind. Average temperature is 28.8 °C all year round.

How we operate it

We run our own posadas here, which means guaranteed rooms in high season, our own boats and a manager on the island. Days are built around a private boat to a cay of the client’s choosing, with a beach set-up and lunch box; we add fishing guides, dive masters or a catamaran when the party wants more. Flights from Caracas use small aircraft with strict weight limits, which we manage for you.

Highlights

  • A private “peñero” to a different cay every day, with lunch on the beach
  • Bonefishing on flats rated among the best in the Caribbean
  • Diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and ultralight flights over the archipelago
  • Cayo de Agua, Francisquí, Madrizquí, Crasquí — sand, water and nothing else
  • The decompression chapter after Canaima, the Llanos or the Delta
